As part of theArizona Statewide Instructional Technology Project, our Goals are:
* To assist public, charter, and private schools by providing workshops on-site*, at our center, and/or tailoredto your needs.
* To provide training and support services for the integration of technology and real ideas for adjusting instruction approaches to 21st Century Learning.
* To assist schools in acquiring effective and efficient instructional practices in all K-12 content areas.
* To promote IDEAL (AZ Dept. of Ed's Web Portal of Educator Resources) to all LEA’s in the state and incorporate it into all professional development efforts.
* Promote the iSAFE internet safety curriculum, Thinking with Technology and Essentials course work from Intel, and Thinkfinity lesson plan tools.

Alternatives to Web PagesForget FrontPage! Forget Dreamweaver! These technical solutions for developing web pages are being rapidly replaced with a plethora of creative Web 2.0 tools available right on the internet. Wikis, blogs, and sites are some of the new tools that not only help you develop web pages; they encourage collaboration and avoid the need to have highly technical knowledge. With these tools you and your students can easily embed audio and video resources to make your web site a learning tool as well as a resource.
Digital ImagesLearn how to edit digital images and incorporate them into your classroom instruction across the curriculum. Two strands are offered: 1) Using desktop software for the PC to edit and present photos. 2) Using free online photo-editing, posting, and presentation resources. Topics to be covered include: digital image types, resizing and cropping images, working with multiple layers, digital image resources, using digital images across the curriculum, online posting, editing, animating and presentations.
Digital StorytellingLearn how to use PhotoStory, a free program from Microsoft, to bring new digital tools into your classroom and help students tell their own stories in a compelling and emotionally engaging form.
EPortfoliosThe show-and-tell tool of the 21st Century for showcasing student and teacher work. Learn the various tools for creating an online gallery of work that compiles documents, media, images and a platform for reflection.
GIS, GPS, and GeocachingGeographic Information Systems provide information and tools for examining the earth. GPS lets you map specific locations on the earth’s surface. Geocaching is a game in which you find specific locations. Combined, they are a powerful and modern method of learning geography.
Google Earth & Google Literature TripsFly from your school to anywhere in the world or in the sky, follow the Freedom Trail with images, post pictures and see how other Google Earth users have enriched the world view. Follow the path of Candide, The Traveling Pants, or The Yellow Balloon and see the embedded images and descriptions that bring the stories to real-life.
Google Earth and Google Maps“Google Earth lets you fly anywhere on Earth to view satellite imagery, maps, terrain, 3D buildings, from galaxies in outer space to the canyons of the ocean. You can explore rich geographical content, save your toured places, and share with others.” Google maps coordinates with Google Earth to provide a 2D perspective. Google Tools for AdministratorsCollaborative tools to enhance communication, planning, coordination, distribution of work, and to increase productivity. Selected non-Google tools as well.
Google Tools for SchoolsCollaborative creation, 3-D drawing tools, word processing documents, spreadsheets, shared video storage. Learn about the new Google tools for online collaboration and how they can revolutionize education. Recommended for multi-day workshops.
IDEALParticipants will explore the IDEAL portal. They will experience online professional development, streaming videos, AIMS preparation support and formative assessments. Personalized formative assessments (aligned with AIMS) will be developed.
Interactive Whiteboards & Student Engagement SmartBoard, Promethean ActiveBoard, Interwrite Board are all brand names of electronic interactive whiteboards. What do these tools do for student engagement? How do they differ? How are they the same? This overview of interactive whiteboard technology will help you to understand. Local representatives from Promethean and SMART will present on using the innumerable features of interactive whiteboards for maximum effectiveness in the classroom. Training is also available for each whiteboard application.
Internet Safety Trainingfor educators to familiarize them with and provide a solid foundation in Mobile device safety, Cyber safety, Netiquette, and Cyber Bullying issues. Attendees will receive materials and online resources to help them implement their own internet safety program.

Using Primary SourcesThe Library of Congress provides access to thousands of digitized original source documents. Make American History come alive for students with pictures of the Great Depression, letters from the frontier, and many other exciting resources.
Scratchand Games that Make You Think“Scratch is a new programming language that makes it easy to create your own interactive stories, animations, games, music, and art -- and share your creations on the web. Scratch is designed to help young people (ages 8 and up) develop 21st century learning skills. As they create Scratch projects, young people learn important mathematical and computational ideas, while also gaining a deeper understanding of the process of design.
