IDEAL Resources Explained
Curriculum Resources
The Learning Resource Manager is a search area where you can locate various teaching resources within the IDEAL environment.
Discovery Education streaming is our streaming video area. It also contains links to other teaching resources such as “Assignment Builder,” “Quiz Builder,” “Plan Library,” “Educator Network,” and other teacher tools and resources.
Recipes4Success were available in the ASSET environment as well. This is an area where one can find brief tutorials at three different levels for a wide variety of software commonly used by educators.
AIMS for Educators
iTunesU offers educators a place to share student and/or teacher-created audio and visual content such as videos and podcasts.
The Formative Assessment area allows educators to create and save assessments
Thinkfinity™ is a link to a web-based storehouse of thousands of lesson plans, interactive student activities, and other resources, all sponsored by well-known educational institutions.
Professional Development
The Course Catalog gives a searchable listing of courses offered through IDEAL. Some are available statewide, others are available only to educators within specific schools, districts, or other groups.
Recipes4Success were available in the ASSET environment. This is an area where one can find brief tutorials at three different levels for a wide variety of software commonly used by educators.
Discovery Education Streaming is our streaming video area. It also contains links to other teaching resources such as “Assignment Builder,” “Quiz Builder,” “Plan Library,” “Educator Network,” and other teacher tools and resources.
The Intel© Teach program area describes various options for educators to enhance their knowledge of Project-based learning through completion of Intel trainings. There is a schedule of trainings available throughout the state.
Collaboration area
Interest Groups will allow Arizona educators to create “birds of a feather” groups to plan, discuss issues, share resources and innovate. For instance, an ad hoc committee of principals might collaborate on ways to motivate teachers to participate in required professional development.
Google Apps is an area where educators can find Google Maps, Calendars, blogs, and more. Principals might find the Google Documents area helpful to work collaboratively on a shared document. To use all of these areas, a person must obtain a free G-Mail account. However, the account does not have to be actively or regularly used.
Personal Workspace
Profile- It is important for each user to complete their profile.
MyCourses- will show the courses in which an individual educator is enrolled or has completed.
MyGroups- ???
Administrative Tools- This area is where an educator creates a new workspace or “course” and defines the tools included in that area.
Support
FAQs- The Help Desk updates this area to include answers and solutions to the most commonly asked questions and problems.
Tour- an online simulation which gives a brief overview of IDEAL and its resources.
Tutorial- Complete this step-by-step activity and learn about IDEAL’s resources
Report an Issue- creates an email in which you can report a problem
Suggestions- creates an email in which you can suggest improvements to the IDEAL environment.
School Improvement
The ASIP online tool and guidebook is where you would want to go in order to build your School Improvement Plan. You must be authorized to use this area. You can download and print the ASIP guidebook here to learn how to use the tool.
The School Improvement Rubrics area looks very much like the previous version of IDEAL. This is where you would go to find your School Improvement standards.
